In the present work of professional sufficiency, the effectiveness of the ethylene oxide sterilization system of a Peruvian company in the hospital sector is described and validated. A four-stage methodology was applied to diagnose, analyze, improve and validate the system. For the diagnosis, customer complaints from January to December 2017 and production reports from March to October 2017 were reviewed. An analysis of the causes of the main problems identified was carried out and opportunities for improvement were established. We proceeded with the description of the assembly process of sterilization cabins and production of ethylene oxide vials with the following improvements introduced between January and July 2018: introduction of cartridge for activation of ETO vials, implementation of meter and temperature activator by grid, development of modular control panel, construction of the integrated aeration system and redesign of the refrigeration system that constitute my professional contribution to the organization. The validation of the system was carried out in January 2023 through a sterilization test of 12 samples of surgical medical instruments and disposable material provided by a local clinic. The results of the reading of chemical and biological indicators demonstrated the effectiveness of the ethylene oxide sterilization system on medical material and the sustainability of the improvements introduced.
