The yield model of the Aquacrop crop was calibrated based on the data obtained during the rice season from December 2017 to April 2018, in the central coast of Peru. The most sensitive parameters for the calibration of the model were: the crop transpiration coefficient (Kc tr), biomass water productivity (WPb), the canopy decrease coefficient (CDC), the growth coefficient of the crop (CGC), the maximum canopy cover (CCx), the base temperature (Tb), the upper temperature (Tsup), the reference harvest index (HIo), the time to senescence (ts) and the time to maturity (tm). The model offered a performance under four levels of soil tension (0kPa, -10kpa, -15kPa, -20kPa) from “very good“ to “good“ for canopy cover (CC), according to Moriasi et al (1998), with an efficiency of Nash-Sutcliffe EF> 0.82, with RSR index <0.44 and Willmott index d> 0.94, a correlation r of Pearson r> 0.91, significant for the T student test for α =5%. Likewise, for soil water content (SWC) it showed a performance of “very good“ to “satisfactory“ with EF> 0.52 and RSR <0.70; d> 0.79; r> 0.91 significant α=5%. It was demonstrated that Aquacrop is a useful tool in decision making to investigate crops under water stress conditions in arid zones
