The present research paper describes the development of a sheet for packaging whole milk powder, in order to reduce the cost of the product. Three proposals for sheet structures were proposed: Structure 1 (PET/LDPE), Structure 2 (PET/PET/LDPE) and Structure 3 (PET/AL/LDPE), that allow to maintain the properties of functionality and mechanical resistance during its transport and distribution. The following evaluations were made to the materials before packaging: grammage measurement, lamination strength, seal strength and oxygen transmission ratio. And the following evaluations after packaging: transport and hermeticity tests. Additionally, the savings represented by each alternative were compared. The average values of laminating strength were structure 1 (PET/LDPE) 558.1gf/25.4mm, structure 2 (PET/PET) 188.8gf/25.4mm, structure 2 (PET/LDPE) 441.9gf/25.4mm, structure 3 (PET/AL) 334.0gf/25.4mm and Structure 3 (AL/LDPE) 609.2gf/25.4mm; seal strength were structure 1 (PET/LDPE) 2833.8gf/25.4mm, structure 2 (PET/PET/LDPE) 2814.2gf/25.4mm and structure 3 (PET/AL/LDPE) 2862.2gf/25.4mm; Oxygen transmission ratio were structure 1 (PET/LDPE) 1,051cm3/m2-24h, structure 2 (PET/PET/LDPE) 1,227cm3/m2-24h and structure 3 (PET/AL/LDPE) 0.023cm3/m2- 24h. About the evaluations after packaging, structure 1 (PET/LDPE), structure 2 (PET/PET/LDPE) and structure 3 (PET/AL/LDPE) were approved in the hermetic and transport tests. The cost evaluation shows a reduction of structure 1 (PET/LDPE) by 3.3%, structure 2 (PET/PET/LDPE) by 13.3% and structure 3 (PET/AL/LDPE) by 14.8%. The proposal that was selected was Structure 3 (PET/AL/LDPE) considering that it represented a greater cost reduction, better lamination force specifications and oxygen transmission ratio compared to the other proposed structures.
