The present research work was carried out with the objective of determining the current classification of land cover in the Lurín river basin. The methodology followed is based on the classification by segments with the generation of thematic maps according to the Corine Land Cover classification adapted for Peru (MINAGRI 2018). Images of the Sentinel-2A satellite of 2018 and images of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) with a flight plan prepared according to the characteristics of the zone in the lower, middle and upper part of the basin were used. The total area of the Lurin river basin is 1642.57 km2, in which thirteen kinds of land cover were identified as: natural sandy areas, herbazal, arbustal, cardonal, mosaic of crops, bare and degraded lands, continuous urban fabric , shrub / herbaceous vegetation, glaciers, industrial or commercial areas, lagoons, lakes and bogs, peat bogs and artificial water bodies that occupy 23.19, 20.72, 20.15, 17.16, 8.10, 3.42, 3.35, 3.04, 0.42, 0.30, 0.07 , 0.07 and 0.01 percent of the territory of the basin respectively. The areas that occupy 81.22 percent of the basin are the natural sandy areas in the lower part, cardonal in the middle part, herbazal and arbustal in the upper part; this indicates an arid climate with deficiency of rain in the lower part, semi-dry, temperate and humid in the middle and rainy part with high humidity in the upper part of the basin. The predominant coverage in the lower part is the natural sandy areas and the continuous urban fabric, in the middle part the cardonal and in the upper part of the basin are the herbazal and shrubbery.
