The present work was conducted to investigate the growth and the stress response of Arapaima gigas fingerlings (26 ± 2.36 g), fed previously with different concentrations of vitamin C in their post physiological adaptation to biofloc technology system (BFT). Four triplicate groups of A. gigas fingerlings were fed over eight weeks with four experimental diets 41.3 (control diet), 541, 823 y 1290 mg ascorbic acid equivalent (AA) Kg -1 of feed, in twelve 60 L glass aquarium of a recirculating aquaculture system (RAS), afterwards all groups were transferred to a BFT system, over an adaptation period of two weeks. Unlike the RAS system period, only the control diet was offered to all experimental groups.Final weight, weight gain and specific growth rate were positively affected (p<0.05) by the 823 mg AA kg-1 treatment over the RAS system period. Also, fry A. gigas from the treatments 823 y 1920 mg AA kg-1, showed a better physiological response in its adaptation to the BFT system, reflected in lower blood plasma cortisol variability and an antioxidant and immunostimulant effect reflected in the haematological parameters such as hemoglobin concentration, hematocrit, number of erythrocytes, leukocytes and thrombocytes. Final results indicate that high concentrations of AA in the diet for a previous period of eight weeks, improves growth and physiological state in A. gigas fingerlings, in the process of adaptation to the BFT system, being the best level 823 mg AA Kg -1 .
