The popping bean or ñuña type (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) is a plant genetic resource of great nutritional importance, but it is an underutilized crop despite to its great nutritional value. The largest center of diversification is found at the highland areas of Peru and Bolivia, therefore, this research was conducted in the Carhuaz and Chiquian localities from the Ancash-Peru region. The objective was to estimate the genetic parameters, heritability of grain yield and the main components; determine the genotype-environment (GxE) and evaluate the burstingof the grain. The 32 ñuña bean accessions from the germplasm bank of Programa de Investigación en Leguminosas de Grano y Oleaginosas (PLGO) based at Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molina (UNALM) were evaluated in the complete randomized block design with four replicates. Results showed significant GenotypeEnvironment (GxE) interaction on days to physiological maduration (DPM), days to flowering (DF), number of grains per pod (NGP), weight of 100 seeds (WHS), grain yield (GY), length of pod (LP) and number of pods per plant (NPP). The genetic variance was high for DPM, WHS and (GY), medium for DF and low for LP, NPP and NGP. The heritability varied from 0.40 (NGP) to 0.95 (DF). In Chiquian, the accessions of grain burst accessions such as G23617, Black shell, Black Malcash, Numia Margarita, Round purple ñuña, Light brown, G23623, G23616, G23619, G23617, Q'osqo bean and Ñuña Pavita Lacabamba presented consistency to soft grain, chewable and good quality. Meanwhile, in Carhuaz only accessions such as G7280, G23620, Morado G8697 and Ñuña Pavita Lacabamba presented the latter characters. In conclusion, this experience showed that the PLGO -UNALM germplasm bank has accessions with high yields, good characteristics of consistency and grain burst that could be integrated into some ñuña breeding programs
