The research aims to analyze the levels of technical and economic efficiency of an emblematic crop such as quinoa, in a place that protects agrobiodiversity systems such as Puno, in order to evaluate the value of agrobiodiversity and its contribution to sustainable management . 461 surveys were applied in eight provinces of Puno and two focus groups. Efficiency is calculated using the Stochastic Production Frontier analysis. Efficiency was analyzed according to cultural practices and agro-ecological zones. As a result, on average, the level of technical efficiency of the quinoa producer is 0,76. Likewise, in production systems that preserve agrobiodiversity practices, technical efficiency is significantly more precise than economic efficiency. In addition, it has been identified that the significance of the efficiency depends on variables such as the extension of the cultivated area and the use of fertilizers during quinoa production. Additionally, it has been identified that the location according to agroecological floors influences efficiency, due to better production indices in the lake area compared to the periphery. It is concluded that producers with agrobiodiversity do not seek to maximize their benefits, but on the contrary to consume their production using available resources, these differ analytically from other social groups or agricultural companies.
