Technical irrigation has expanded its borders in recent years within atomized agriculture. On the one hand, this advance has contributed by increasing the yield and safety of horticultural crops such as strawberries (Fragaria × ananassa Duch), an added value that consumers are willing to pay to the producer. On the other hand, the economic boost and massive acceptance of the technical irrigation system has resulted in an excessive and inappropriate use of materials, installation labor and agricultural inputs belonging to the irrigation system. As a result of evaluating a 1.75 hectare strawberry plot with 66 thousand plants per hectare and a net irrigation level of 5 mm.day-1, it was possible to reduce the operating cost of each irrigation to 50%, which involves the energy cost (hydrocarbon or electrical energy) and working hours. In addition, the irrigation uniformity coefficient is increased (around 90%), which improves crop yield by up to 50%. The direct net benefit that the strawberry producer obtains after receiving qualified technical advice for the installation of his technical irrigation system turns out to be no less than S/250.00 or $65.50 per hectare on a 2-hectare property with a tendency to increase the economic benefit on plots with larger area.
