The present investigation corresponds to a proposal for a solid waste management and recovery plan in Las Lomas Local Market (hereinafter LLLM) located in the district of Villa El Salvador (hereinafter VES). In order to know the current conditions of solid waste management, a qualitative diagnosis was carried out, through perception surveys and a quantitative diagnosis, through characterization based on the Guide for the Characterization of Municipal Solid Waste approved by Ministerial Resolution N° 457-2018 MINAM. Surveys showed that 55% of merchants perform segregation using plastic bags; 83% receive the collection service by the Municipality of VES; 60% dispose their solid waste for recycling in the LLLM, in no case they compost organic waste generated; 72% of merchants have not been trained in solid waste management. The characterization showed that the average generation is 2.87 kg / day each stall and a total of 519.76 kg / day. Usable waste presented the highest generation, with 92.35%, mostly comprised of organic waste (86.47%), followed by inorganic waste (5.88%); unusable waste corresponds to 7.65%, mostly comprised of single-use bags (3.60%). The organic waste generated presented a humidity of 76.32%. Based on these results, measures were formulated for an adequate solid waste management in the LLLM, differentiated into operational and awareness-raising. The operational measures include minimization, segregation at the source, selective collection, transportation, storage, conditioning, recovery and final disposal, in accordance with current regulations. Considering that organic waste presented the highest generation in the LLLM, the material recovery through composting piles is proposed, which considers its design comprised by the storage and chopping area, the compost pile area and the product storage area. Final (compost). Finally, considerations were proposed for its subsequent operation.
