Studies of species distribution are of important to assess their conservation status. This research aims to propose a niche distribution model of the Gray-bellied Comet (Taphrolesbia griseiventris) in MaxEnt using records from eBird, literature and museums, and environmental and vegetation co-variates; and the validation of the model in the field. The sites where the species was present were used to do a habitat assessment, including its structure and composition, and threats. The results show that the species is associated to interandean valleys with steep slopes, presence of ornithophilous flowers like Oreocalis grandiflora, Bromelia sp. and Salvia sp, and the main threats were fires. Additionally, this investigation expands the confirmed presence of the species to La Libertad region, adding a new region for the species. These results propose new information for the species that must be used to re-assess its threat category.
