The present research aimed to develop a method of recovering stickwater solids, with low levels of histamine, using coagulation-flocculation and characterize the sludge recovered, residual liquid and the recovered solids (dry sludge). It was demonstrated that it was possible to recover stickwater solids using coagulation-flocculation technique with low histamine content. The reduction of histamine in the recovered slurry was 70.6% of initial content in the stickwater. The use of 5 ml of Compound C (coagulant) and 10 ml of Compound H (flocculant), reduced the turbidity of residual liquid separated by natural decantation of 33.838 to 49.1 NTU NTU, this represents a reduction of 99.85%. In the case of centrifugal separation, the reduction was 99.7%. The optimum ratio of the coagulant: flocculant: tail water in the flocculation process, was 1: 2: 20. According to the material balance, the solids in the recovered sludge were 38.63% of the total solids present in the stickwater, the remaining solids (61.37%) remained in the residual liquid. Nothing magnesium, lead, arsenic and chromium were found in the recovered sludge. Likewise, the microbiological analysis of E. coli and Salmonella was negative. In the residual liquid lead, chromium, arsenic, mercury and aluminum was not found; the cadmium content was 0.08 ppm and 8871.5 ppm of chlorides and microbiological analysis of E. coli and Salmonella was negative. Additionally, the residual liquid presented BOD538 000 mg / L and DQO 58 764 mg / L and must be treated to meet the permissible limits or ranges of quality regulated by the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources. The protein content in the dry sludge solid was similar to that presented fishmeal type FAQ. The aminogram performed on the dry sludge indicated that tryptophan was the limiting amino acid, so it is advisable to be reintegrated into the fish meal production.
