In animal production, those diseases of parasitic origin must be taken into account, as well as their zoonotic potential and impact on public health, since ticks are one of the main parasitic problems in cattle. Currently, in Peru there are no recent data on the diversity of tick species that affect cattle in the departments of central Peru. The objective of this study is to find the tick species that affect cattle in the departments of the central region of Peru (Ancash, Huancavelica, Huánuco, Junín, Lima, Pasco and Ucayali), as well as in their different natural regions (Región Chala, Yunga, Quechua, Puna, Janca, Selva Alta and Selva Baja). For this study, the collection of different species of ticks found in the animals of the cattle herds was carried out. The samples were conserved in alcohol at 70% to be later identified using taxonomic keys for each species, which was carried out in the parasitology laboratory of the Faculty of Zootechnia of the Universidad Nacional Agraria la Molina (UNALM). The most predominant tick species in cattle in central Peru was Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus (77.10%), followed by Otobius megnini (13.5%) and Rhipicephalus sanguineus (2.8%), and, less frequently, Dermacentor nitens (0.5%), it was only found in the department of Ucayali - Selva Baja (0.5%). The Yunga region (500 to 2300 m s. n. m.) presented a greater diversity of species compared to the other regions and in the Puna region (4000 - 4800 m s. n. m.) only the Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus species was found parasitizing bovines. These results show that the distribution of ticks depends on the climatic conditions of each region, and on the adaptation that each species has developed
