The purpose of this research is to bare the culture´s potential to be a key component to launch the ecotourism, on the current context when is considered as a complementary touristic attractive. Besides the fact that the culture is an essential pillar for the sustainable development because its appraisal allows to respond a community´s expectancy and own future vision. Likewise, look up to highlight the afro - peruvian culture´s peculiar characteristics in Cruz Pampa – Yapatera, which is in a progressive process of loss, to that there are few development opportunities that come for the village. Because of this, it was posed the objective of evaluating the afro - peruvian culture´s potential to launch the ecotourism in the Cruz Pampa – Yapatera village. To reach it the methodology was based in the science paradigm socio-critical, which arises as a response to the necessity of carry out researches supported on the empiric and hermeneutic perspective, with the purpose of demonstrate the village´s touristic potential and the afro - peruvian culture involvement on it. It was essentially relied on the qualitative method to based information on about touristic resources, cultural elements, stakeholders´ interests, potential visitor and SWOT analysis; using techniques of data compilation as observation, interview, focus group and documentary analysis. Nevertheless, the quantitative method was needed to optimize the information about the local visitor´s description and the touristic potential valuation; using the survey technique and proposing valuation indicators. The results achieved has been that the afro-peruvian culture potential to launch ecotourism in Cruz Pampa Yapatera is significant, 61.11 % of touristic resources are related to afro-peruvian culture, the village have 83.05 % of authentic, peculiar, and prevailing afro-peruvian culture that is mainly express as immaterial culture manifestations, has diverse stakeholders with interest to launch tourism in the village but, it is necessary to generate strategic alliances among them. The potential local visitor feels attraction for afro - peruvian culture but is looking for touristic activities related to nature. Development is slow because there are not opportunities to promote neither culture nor education that could generate leaders in their organizations, who could defend their communal rights. In conclusion community productive ecomuseum was proposed as a strategy of planning that has as basis afro - peruvian culture and developing of the settler´s abilities on integration, organization, management and leading.
