From many years ago, industrial activities have been used as energy for its machines the electrical energy generated with different sources, such as the hydroelectric power plants, thermal power sources, etc. , but for the illumination of the homes in many parts of our country used generators with internal combustion engines to diesel or petrol and in some places renewable sources such as solar energy and wind energy. Within the alternative fuels that are becoming increasingly important for its ecological value are biofuels, such as bioethanol and biodiesel biomethanol. In this paper, we study experimentally the behavior of a diesel engine in a plant of electric power generation using as fuel, biodiesel obtained from pinion oil (Jatropha curcas). According to the results obtained mixtures that used 20% and 30% of biodiesel produced higher electrical power, that the witness (D-2) and the mixture with 10% biodiesel, but statistically significant differences existed between them. In regard to the consumption of fuel hours, had the same behavior, i.e. as they increase the electrical power, it also increased the consumption of fuel, but there were statistically significant differences between mixtures, These being, higher with the mixtures with 20% and 30% of biodiesel; while the specific consumption was higher when the electrical power generated was low, that is to say the performance of the engine was lower, but as you increase the electrical power consumption under specific to 0.5 Kg/KW-h, remaining constant as the electrical power was increasing, so that told us that in this case the performance of the internal combustion engine was high, statistically significant difference was found between mixtures, being higher with 20% of biodiesel. The opacity generated by the internal combustion engine test was increased in the exhaust gases to measure that increase the electrical power, in all cases, while the torque generated by the internal combustion engine to occur the electrical power, had a linear behavior whose linear equation had an R2 of 99 % .; however obtain significant differences between the mixtures.
