Soy is the main indirect source of protein for humanity. However, the existence of spatial heterogeneity in the capacity of its production, encourages countries to trade. A variation of its commercial flows would unquestionably generate an impact on the protein availability of any country, affecting the state of its food security. The relevance of having information systems that help anticipate these variations will allow the countries involved to generate efficient adaptations. The present investigation develops a system of spatial analysis of the commercial interaction of soybeans, integrating methodologies such as gravitational models and graph theory. The first allows the system to explain the bilateral relations between the countries, while the second allows to graph these relations. Resulting in simplified information from the complexity of the commercial system of this important legume. Such is the case of China, a country that has generated a relative global monopsony regarding soybeans, consuming 60 percent of this product worldwide and allocating 80 percent of this volume to the production of animal protein. However, due to potential risks, the country tries to diversify its supplying partners as a commercial strategy. The latter shows that the dominance-dependence relations that countries present are decisive to explain the evolution of global soybean trade, as well as for the strategic commercial planning of a country's protein food security
