Coffee is one of the most important crops in Perú, since it is not the only source of employment for millions of families of small farmers but also constitutes one of the main agro-export products. Unfortunately, the public health emergency caused by COVID-19 and the lockdown regulations to stop its spread imposed by governments had negative consequences on the coffee commerce and its consumption. In this context, the present work was with the objective of determining how the pandemic affected coffee production and describing the coffee productive systems of Juan Santos Atahualpa Industrial Agroecological Cooperative's members. For this purpose, the “Impact of COVID-19“ and “Characterization of productive farms“ surveys were conducted on a sample of the organic coffee growers' population determined by the Corbetta formula, in the population centers Belen Anapiari, Unión Andahuaylas and Villa el Sol. The results indicate that the coffee farms are mainly managed by men, their extension is not larger than 5 hectares and its average yield is between 16 to 20 qq/ha. In general, coffee farmers have perceived changes during and after the lockdown caused by COVID-19, such as the rise of coffee price and the increase of producers' expenses, such as grocery prices, the cost per can harvested, and the harvest wages of men and women. Likewise, the producers stated that labor force was available but transportation was negatively affected. Therefore, important tasks such as harvesting were not performed properly. Finally, this situation influenced half of the interviewees' decision to sell alternative products such as bananas, corn and ginger, and the 17% of farmers to replace coffee plantations for other crops like ginger and corn.
