The development of the crop areas of critics, in conditions of the Norte chico del Peru, has been increasing in the last 20 years, since the beginnings of his first in Huaral until reaching the Río Supe's Valley, thanks to the same conditions of the weather and the soils. The chosen varieties are the ‘W. Murcott’, ‘Primosole’, ‘Kara’, and ‘Okitsu’ among others, standing out the first variety, like late fruits (from flower to 9-month harvest). And the last variety for his precocity (from flower to 7-month harvest) with good conditions for the local markets and the exportation, his harvest time is in the months of November to March because it has a higher price-demand. One of the most chosen tangerines varieties it's the ‘Satsuma Okitsu’ (Citrus unshiu Marcovich), of main characteristic; highly productive (does not alternate), produces fruit parthenocarpic (seedless), with a good %Acidity/°Brix ratio, easy to degreen, it allows the harvest to be brought forward with “the parching“ and/or with the elimination of immature fruits. The plantation of 'Satsuma Okitsu' under the conditions of The Norte chico del Peru, is a profitable business due to its high tolerance to pest and disease populations, raising its profitability by demanding lower maintenance costs. As for timely mineral nutrition, proper use of irrigation, punctual management of pruning and appropriate sanitary control during the first years of crop growth are key factors in the production and quality of fruits.
