In the present study the concentration of 16 Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) with potentially carcinogenic, was determined in dust street and particulate matter PM10 from the center of Lima-Peru, during the months of August and December 2013. Samples of dust street had concentrations between from 14.15 to 73.93 mg/g, in the particulate material between 33.09 and 68.35 ng/m3. It was determined that PAHs were of pyrogenic origin and was correlated with increasing traffic flow and weather variations. Toxic and ecotoxicological effects of PAHs was evaluated in dust street determining that exhibit toxic very toxic effects. PA V station had the highest effect and AB I station having the highest rate of potential toxic effect (PEEP) by the mass flow. Assessment of carcinogenic risk measured as ILCR swallowed adult was between 7.258 × 10- 3 and 2,351 × 10-2 via dermal between 2.133 10-2 and 6.908 10-2, both by ingestion or dermal route had carcinogenic potential for children and adults at great risk. Finally PAHs degradation was assessed by treatment with compost of different qualities. HAPs removal percentages greater was achieved at 80% in 120 days, this possibly influenced by the presence of microorganisms that degrading organic matter and produced humic substances. The toxic effect as B(a)Peq is reduced by over 66% in 30 days of treatment, the dust street can be achieved in 90 days of treatment. The ecotoxicological effects assessed on Daphnia magna and Lactuca sativa, indicate that PAH metabolites being produced by cometabolism had more ecotoxicological effect between 30 and 60 days, reducing its effect over 90 days of treatment.
