According to various studies, oleic acid may be a natural appetite suppressant to combat obesity, because it increases the plasma concentration of the satiety hormone cholecystokinin (CCK). This fatty acid is found in a large proportion in vegetable oils extracted from little-used native sources of the Peruvian Amazon, such as aguaje (Mauritia flexuosa). The objective of the present study was to evaluate the effect of the consumption of aguaje oil on eating behaviour and obtain preliminary information on the postprandial concentration of plasma CCK in Holtzman rats. To evaluate eating behavior, 30 rats were randomly distributed in three treatments (aguaje, coconut and control). The previously fasted rats received 2g / Kg of each treatment for 6 days, and then their daily food consumption and for periods of time were evaluated. For a preliminary evaluation of the CCK hormone, first the fasted animals received the treatments, then they were sacrificed for measurements of the plasma CCK. Food consumption data were analyzed under a RBD, in addition, these data were subjected to parametric (ANOVA and tukey) or non-parametric (Friedman and LSD) tests. Data for plasma concentrations of CCK were only described. Only in the period 0-30 minutes, the administration of aguaje oil significantly (p<0.05) reduced food consumption. Preliminarily, a tendency was observed to present higher plasma concentration values of CCK in the animals that were administered with aguaje oil, in the first 120 minutes. In conclusion, the administration of aguaje oil reduced food consumption in the first 30 minutes, having a null effect in the other periods of time and in the accumulated daily. Furthermore, it was preliminarily observed that the effect could be mediated by an increase in the plasma concentration of CCK
