The artisanal activity in Peru is heterogeneous, there are high development areas such as Chulucanas - Piura where the main impulse entity is the Technological Innovation Center of the Ministry of Production, in contrast with other low development areas promoted by the government as this is the case of the inhabitants who live in the rural areas of San Mateo; however, craftsmanship is the main economic source, practiced mainly by native groups that do not have the opportunity to develop in other sectors than trade, added to the lack of training, that is to say, the lack of specialized studies in the field, the absence of programs of the government and / or the lack of entrepreneurial knowledge lead the artisan women of the district of San Mateo to a weak production with low marketing, this is a feature present in multiple producing areas of the country. To this is added that there is no sales promotion, advertising or a brand that identifies the products they develop with a low cultural identity; this becomes limitations and barriers with an incipient positioning of handicrafts in their district and an absence in the market of Metropolitan Lima. The present investigation is descriptive and aims to clearly define the behavior of the craft market; The objective of this study is to establish the distribution strategies that allow the development of San Mateo handicraft brand management, directed towards the Metropolitan Lima market. The lack of distribution strategies limits the commercialization of products from the handicrafts sector of the San Mateo district even when opportunities are identified in the markets of Metropolitan Lima. The field work shows favorable conditions for the development of this type of initiatives (Market research ENCALM, 2017 - Survey of handicrafts to Metropolitan Lima, 2017).
