In the present research work, an irrigation technique was applied to reduce the water supply with respect to the irrigation needs of the potato crop, for which the effect of the application of partial drying of the root zone plus intermittent irrigation was evaluated. Intermittent irrigation and continuous irrigation in the cultivation of potato variety UNICA. The volume of water used in each treatment and the production yield of each of the irrigation treatments were evaluated. The work was done in the experimental field belonging to the National Agrarian University la Molina, being the net area of each treatment 360 m2 and was made up of 6 blocks, the total net area of the experimental field was 1080 m2. The statistical design of the experiment was blocks completely randomized according to 3 by 6. The average yield per plant is: 1684.79 gr, 1534.50 gr and 1411.91 gr, and brought to tn/ha is 42.12 tn/ha, 38.36 tn/ha and 35.30 tn/ ha, for the techniques of partial irrigation of the root zone plus intermittent irrigation, intermittent irrigation and continuous irrigation respectively Likewise, in the three treatments the water consumption used throughout the vegetative period was analyzed, in which the partial irrigation of the root zone plus intermittent irrigation, intermittent irrigation and continuous irrigation, consumed the water volumes of: 1446.97 m3/ha, 2903.24 m3/ha and 7471.69 m3/ha respectively. If we compare the partial irrigation of the root zone plus intermittent irrigation with intermittent irrigation treatments and continuous irrigation, water savings of 1456.27 m3/ha and 6024.72 m3/ha, respectively, were obtained.
