This research was carried on the campus of the Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molina; aimed to evaluate the effect of three rootstocks on yield and fruit quality in organic production of watermelon (Citrullus lanatus) cv. Riverside conditions in La Molina, Lima, Peru. The treatments were: ungrafted plants (T0), Lagenaria siceraria (T1), Cucurbita maxima x Cucurbita moschata (T2) and Cucurbita moschata (T3). The grafting technique used was the simple english type. It was transplanted to the open field in the middle of the summer season, using a DBCA statistic design, with four treatments and blocks. The agronomic management was done using organic fertilizers, foliar fertilizers, and bio stimulants. Biopesticides and/or repellents were used for pest control. From 66 DAT the harvest began, total and commercial yield were evaluated; number of fruits/plant; average weight and quality evaluations (polar and equatorial diameter, soluble solids percentage, temperature and thickness of the fruit shell). According to the results, there were no statistics significant differences for the variables evaluated. However, differences were observed in the rate of production and quality when using rootstocks respect to the control treatment. The following conclusions were reached: the use of rootstocks in organic production of watermelon cv. Riverside under conditions of La Molina, was not statistic significant differences on yield and quality. However, the use of rootstocks can increase commercial yield, number of fruits/plant, shell thickness, soluble solids among others. Cucurbita maxima x Cucurbita moschata rootstock, in terms of yield and quality parameters, could be the best inorganic watermelon crop according to the environmental conditions of La Molina.
