Objective: to determine the in vitro antibacterial effect of ethanolic extract of Sesamum indicum (sesame) seeds against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 and Escherichia coli ATCC 25922. Materials and methods: quantitative, experimental; population: 10 kg of Sesamum indicum and 1 kg sample of sesame seeds; On the other hand, 5 Petri dishes inoculated with Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 and Escherichia coli ATCC 25922, respectively, were used. In addition, the phytochemical gait was used, diffusion on agar in wells, composed of sets at 25%, 50% and 75% against Ciprofloxacin 5ug. Results: the diameters in all concentrations of the ethanolic extract of sesame seeds against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli were lower than those recorded by Ciprofloxacin 5ug (35.69 and 38.05). In the ANOVA test it was (p<0.05) compared to the control set. In addition, the presence of alkaloids, tannins, anthraquinones, phenolic compounds, α, β-unsaturated lactones and flavonoids was identified. Conclusion: the ethanolic extract of Sesamum indicum (sesame) seeds did not present antibacterial effect at 25%, 50% and 75% against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli.
