The following research called “Demographic trends and their relationship with poverty in Peru, 2000-2017“ was born in the face of an evident increase in population and what this causes directly as indirectly before our society, this is shown before us certain doubts and uncertainties which we wanted to clear, so we carried out this research on the variations that exist in demographic trends and poverty, in addition to the question of how these two variables are related; The main objective of this thesis research work is to determine and analyze the level of relationship of the indicators of demographic trends with poverty and to establish an antecedent on this particular topic. Thomas Malthus is the main source of theoretical base who is the author of the six essays on the principle of the population being his biggest problem the increase of the population against the scarce foods making the following statement “the resources grow in an arithmetic way and the population grows geometrically”. This fact leads to a growing concern at present since there is an evident population growth and a significant decrease in food due to various factors, but mainly due to an overpopulation which has no control over which we decided to analyze the relationship of demographic trends with poverty. This thesis research is carried out by means of a quantitative investigation of a non- experimental longitudinal section, that is, an investigation in which data from different periods of time is collected that cannot be modified or manipulated by those interested in this research, which we provide the tools to develop the relationship of the variables since there is a database of time series, Econometric analysis tools are also used in which the use of linear regressions was determined. The data found let us know that demographic trends and poverty indicators are interrelated in both directions within these we have that if population growth increases by 1% there are approximately 6 people in every thousand who would come to belong to the group of people with At least one unmet basic need it is also found that increasing the poverty line in a monetary unit implies the reduction of births by 0.03% of every thousand people. In conclusion, it is shown that there are nine indicators that directly relate which are: Gross Birth Rate - Unsatisfied Basic Needs, Population Growth - Basic Needs, Poverty Line - Migration, Gross Domestic Product - Life expectancy at birth, Migration - Gross Domestic Product and Life expectancy at birth - Human Development Index. Otherwise some of the regressions performed will have a relationship with high significance, but without causation.
