In recent years, the participation of women in top management teams has been increasing globally. However, the proportion of men continues to predominate in these leadership positions. Therefore, this research collects the findings of various investigations that use econometric methods to analyze the effect of greater female representation in senior management on profitability. In this regard, a positive effect was found that is explained by the benefits generated by women through strategic decisions of high quality, leadership skills, ease of obtaining resources, better communication with employees, motivation of the female workforce, among others. In addition, it was found that there are particular characteristics of each country or company that may limit these gender diversity benefits. In conclusion, given the positive relationship found, more efforts should be made to increase the participation of women through equal opportunities in the workplace.
