In 2001, studies conducted by Dr. Ian Billinghurst showed that nutrition based on the evolution and nature of animals was the only way to improve and maintain their quality of life and health, leading to the development of a new feeding practice called BARF diet (according to its acronym, “Biologically Appropiate Raw Food“). The diet is based on feeding domestic animals with raw food which provides a series of benefits for their health, longevity and reproductive capacity. The present study focused on the BARF diet for dogs in order to respond to the problem that is currently happening in Peru, where the most common pet is the dog. In the country, despite having a market with a wide variety of dog food products, most of them are made up of a large amount of harmful ingredients to the health of dogs, and the owners are not informed or aware of their long-term damages. The market, technological, economic, financial and social feasibility of the installation of a hamburger production plant for dogs based on the BARF diet was evaluated. On the one hand, according to a market study, a niche was found in which the project can be developed and where all the strategies of the organization should be directed. Likewise, the appropriate location for the plant was determined following the established factors and parameters. Also, it was considered the design of the product, the production process and the supply chain, based on this, the production program and machinery, the area of the plant could be determined. On the other hand, the budgets and the evaluation of the project were carried out, taking into account the total investment, production costs and expenses, and the financial budget. With this, the economic and financial indicators NPV and IRR were determined, these indicated that the project presented is viable. Finally, the aforementioned indicators were used to assess the company's situation with regard to liquidity, profitability and solvency; a sensitivity analysis of the project to different market factors and a social evaluation to identify the social benefits of the project were also carried out.
