The present investigation is called “DETERMINATION OF THE DISPLACEMENT FIELD AND INTERNAL FORCES THROUGH LINEAR AND NON-LINEAR ANALYSIS OF THE STRUCTURAL STEEL ARCH BRIDGE ENRIQUE P. MEJIA, SICUANI, CANCHIS, CUSCO - PERU“. The main objective of the research is to calculate the displacements and internal forces in the arches of the Enrique P. Mejia bridge, a 50 m long inclined arch type structural steel bridge without braces and with a composite section lower deck (structural steel and reinforced concrete). For the calculation of the internal forces and displacements, linear and non-linear analyzes were carried out for combinations of Resistance, Service and Extreme Event loads, having in the latter different methodologies for the estimation of seismic forces, such as spectral modal analysis and history time. In the time-history analysis, the El Centro earthquake of 1940 was used as the design earthquake after having carried out and compared the requests of five seismic records and selected the most critical one for producing greater requests in the structure. The stability of the bridge was calculated considering the linear buckling, critical load factors of 12.82 and 9.29 were obtained for the combinations of service and resistance, respectively. With a geometric nonlinear analysis, values of 6.12 and 8.31 were obtained, for a nonlinear analysis of the material values of 4.47 and 6.16, all this for the combinations of resistance and service, respectively. The main conclusion was reached that by means of these non-linear analyzes there were greater displacements and internal forces than when calculated by means of a linear analysis, thus having a difference of vertical displacements in the keystone of the arch of 2.72 mm and 1.43 mm for the Resistance and Service load combination, respectively, and a difference in lateral displacements in this same arch key of 9.68 mm for the extreme event load combination. In addition, the nonlinear analysis of the material gave values equivalent to the geometric nonlinear analysis, because for this analysis the structure did not reach the plastic range.
