In the present investigation, three electricity generation technologies with geothermal resources were conceptually reviewed. The main objective was to collect information on the alternatives to solving the efficient generation deficit to be developed in the southern Peruvian region in2024 (pre-COVID scenario) [1]. Three types of power generation plants were evaluated (wellhead plant, simple flash plant and binary cycle plant). In this sense, the concepts related to geothermal energy, as well as its various applications, were reviewed. Additionally, the geothermal potential in Peru is described. Finally, information on the Peruvian electricity market and the related legal framework are detailed. From this bibliographic compilation, it is rescued that the main source of uncertainty of the results lies in the superficial data of Ingemmet. Likewise, Tacna has a high geothermal potential that can be used for electricity generation. The evaluation of two technologies, the single distiller and wellhead plants, is recommended due to their low implementation cost.
