Introduction: Lupus nephropathy is one of the most frequent and severe complications in patients with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, manifesting itself in up to 70% of these patients. Renal biopsy is the gold standard for diagnosis of lupus nephropathy, it allows classifying the disease and determining its prognosis. Method: An analytical, observational, cross-sectional and retrospective study was carried out, where they reviewed 120 medical records of patients with a histopathological diagnosis of lupus nephropathy who had a renal biopsy record, treated in the nephrology service of the Adolfo Guevara Velasco Hospital between the years 2011 and 2021. Results: Of the sample (N=120), 85% (n=102) female and 15% (n=15) male, 40% (n=49) presented nephrotic syndrome, 29% (n=29 ) nephritic syndrome, 47.5% (n=57) arterial hypertension, 39.17% (n=45) proteinuria in the nephrotic range, 47.5% (n=57) severe hematuria, 55% (n=66) elevated serum creatininela . The most frequent histopathological class was class IV in 54% (n=65). Of the patients with class IV lupus nephropathy, 73.5% presented nephrotic syndrome (p=0.0001), 55.2% nephritic syndrome (p=0.0001), 51% arterial hypertension (p=0.017) and 55.3% chronic kidney disease (p =0.0001). Conclusions: There is a direct clinicopathological correlation in patients with lupus nephropathy, therefore, the greater the clinical severity, the higher the histopathological grade of lupus nephropathy, taking this into account, the clinical severity can predict advanced degrees of lupus nephropathy.
