Resilience is an innate capacity in the human being, which allows them to overcome adversities in a constructive way, that is why it is considered relevant to study it. Furthermore, it is important to study resilience, since this provides essential aspects, which let it be treated as a public health factor in both children and adolescents. This study has as a main objective to discover if there is an connection between resilience and family composition of southern Lima students. Also, this investigation has a descriptive- correlational nature and is developed with a sample of 81 students whose primary grades range from 2nd to 6th in a state institution. The instruments used were “Inventario de factores personales de resiliencia”', by Cecilia Delgado, and a sociodemographic record. The conclusions reached are that there is a connection between self-esteem and family composition, and, in terms of the variables empathy, autonomy, humor and creativity, there is no a significant connection with family composition. Moreover, we have corroborated that the main hypothesis is verified as there is a connection between resilience and family composition in southern Lima students
