This dissertation is aimed at determining wether there is relationship between the achievement of Basic Competences included in the National Mathematics Curriculum and the academic performance. The purpose of this dissertation is to show the significance of each mathematical competence to achieve optimum performance and quality. To accomplish this purpose, were evaluated the students of second and four grade of basic education. This student were from an Educational Institution contacted through an agreement with the Ugel-7 of Lima. Due to the characteristic of the sample and the formulation of the research problem, the reseach design was a descriptive correlation taking into account that the purpose was to measure the degree of relationship between two variables. After analizing each including math skills in the EVAMAT, it is observed that the results obtained meet the demands required by the National Curriculum Design, and they relation with the academic performance. Accordingly, students of 2nd and 4th grade have the ability to address a variety of contexts applicable to everyday life, as well as, the use of learning tasks and their impact on academic performance. Therefore, the EVAMAT test is a good indicator of academic performance.
