A descriptive, correlational study was carried out; In a national hospital in Lima, between September and November 2018, hospitalized pediatric patients of both sexes, from 6 to 11 years old in children and from 12 to 15 years old in adolescents were evaluated. The objective was to determine the relationship between food consumption and dietary intake on nutritional status. To determine the food consumption, the Comstock visual scale method was used, the dietary contribution was evaluated through direct food weighing and nutritional evaluation using anthropometric parameters whose results were scored using WHO indicators. 73.6% presented an acceptable consumption of the diet, being more prevalent in children, 86.8% of the diets did not cover the energy requirements in the population being more prevalent in children (65.2%), fats, vitamin A , calcium and iron, were deficient in both groups, except in children whose protein intake was excessive and carbohydrate intake was adequate. The nutritional assessment indicated that 49.1% presented adequate BMI for age, 47.1% overweight and obesity, 18.9% short stature and short stature risk. When relating nutritional status with food consumption, in the age-appropriate BMI group, 73% presented acceptable consumption, in the obese and overweight group 24% presented an unacceptable consumption. It is concluded that dietary intake and food consumption have a significant relationship with nutritional status (p = 0.05).
