Objective: To demonstrate that good eating habits of fruits and vegetables are related to the nutritional status of adolescents, between 12 and 14 years of age, who attend an educational center in the district of Comas. Population, material and methods: A qualitative, observational and cross-sectional study of 108 adolescents who attended the second year of secondary school and who underwent the measurement of waist circumference, weight and height and the application of a consumer habits survey. of fruits and vegetables. Results: 57.4% of the adolescents evaluated presented an inadequate consumption of fruits and vegetables, reporting an average intake of 233.6 g / day of these foods. A prevalence of overweight of 28.57% and obesity 23.1% was observed. There was 5 a high risk (17.6%) and very high risk (10.2%) of suffering cardiometabolic disease in the population studied. Conclusion: With a value p = 0.042 it is stated that the intake of fruits and vegetables is insufficient promoting overweight and obesity in adolescent schoolchildren, from 12 to 14 years of age, of the I.E.E United States of the district of Comas. More than half of the population has BMI of overweight and obesity respectively and almost 30% could suffer from cardiometabolic diseases, according to the waist measurement indicator.
