The aim of this research was to determine the effectiveness of the module entitled Reading Academic Papers (RAP) in English-language academic article reading comprehension by students from a private university in Lima. This study was motivated by the need to address the difficulties shown by students in said aspect within the university context, and by the fact that not much research has been conducted in this area in the local academic context. To perform the study, a pre- and a post- test were given to the experimental and control groups, which consisted of students with different English proficiency levels. After the pre-test, the RAP module was taught; it consisted of ten lessons focusing on three different aspects of academic article reading comprehension. Finally, the post-test was applied. Results confirmed the working hypothesis, which stated that the RAP module would have a significant impact. It is concluded that the module is effective and may be adapted for both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in different speciality fields. academic articles, English reading comprehension.
