This paper has the objective of testing 4 different growing mediums for vertical gardens, mixes of moss (Distichia muscoide) with different percentage of perlite, vermiculite and pumice and also a commercial growing medium (Viveros Chaclacayo). Growing mediums were selected after laboratory trials, choosing those in which it’s characteristics approached the most to what literature describes as the best growing medium for vertical gardens. Growing mediums were selected after laboratory trials, choosing those in which it’s characteristics approached the most to what literature describes as the best growing medium for vertical gardens. Tests were conducted in 3 different vegetal species, Salvia farinacea, Osteospermum ecklonis and Asparagus setaceus, with high, medium and low water demand respectively. Using two irrigation frequencies, 7 and 14 days apart each. During this trial, following evaluations were conducted: Survival, growing, flowering and coverage change. At the end, fresh weight, root weight and dry matter content was evaluated. After considering results from all the evaluations, in Salvia farinacea neither treatment got positive results, high dead rates in all treatments, even 7 day irrigation frequency was too much apart to satisfy water demand in this case. Osteorpermum ecklonis, 7 day irrigation frequency got the best results, for growing mediums, moss mixed with pumice, vermiculite and the commercial growing medium got the best results. In Asparagus setaceus, 7 day irrigation frequency showed the best results. In growing mediums, It was the moss mixed with vermiculite and pumice which got the best results.
