The objective of the research was to determine the sociocultural factors that are associated with the level of anxiety of patients in pre-surgery treated in two public hospitals in Iquitos 2023, a study of quantitative nature, nonexperimental, with a descriptive, applicative, cross-sectional design. , correlational and prospective. The sample consisted of 224 patients, and a combination of the survey technique and the APAIS scale were used as data collection instruments. The validity and reliability of these instruments were determined to be 80% and 0.725, respectively, indicating a high level of precision and consistency in measurements. The results revealed that 38.1% of the patients in the preoperative stage were between 31 and 50 years old, and 40% belonged to the group of 51 years or older. The majority of patients (55.3%) were male. Regarding educational level, 75.8% had some level of education, and 57.4% were employed in independent jobs. Most patients came from urban areas (74.2%) and had health insurance (96.3%). In addition, it was observed that 47.1% of the patients were single and 46.7% had monthly income less than 900 soles. In relation to anxiety, 25.8% of the patients had a low level of anxiety, 23.4% a high level, and 50.8% an intermediate level. When analyzing the relationship between demographic aspects and the level of anxiety using the chi-square statistical test, it was found that age, level of education, occupation and health insurance did not have a significant relationship (p=0.868). However, sex, origin, marital status and income showed a significant relationship (p<0.001).
