The prematurity is a health problem for to the implication of neonatal morbidity and mortality and the commitments that present at an order age, there are factors that predispose its prevalence. Objective: To determine maternal factors the relationship between the sociodemographic characteristics of mothers with the presence of a premature newborn in a level II hospital in the city of lquitos between 2019 and 2020. Methodology: Quantitative study of observational design, transversal, retrospective, correlational, with a sample of 346 mothers where 51 were premature newborns. Result: The prevalence of premature newborns was 14. 7%; the factors that were significantly associated with prematurity were mothers < 20 years. (R.P 3,1), >34 years {RP 1.62) rural provenance (RP 2.26) and marginal urban (RP 1. 73) less educational level (RP 1. 79); nulliparous (RP 2.83) primiparous (RP 1.44); less number of prenatal attentions (RP 5,44); preeclampsia (RP=3.5), hypertensive illnees in pregnancy (RP=3.5), ITU (RP=3.4), RPM (OR=3.2), hyperemesis gravidarum (RP=2.9) y anemia (RP=2.7. Conclusion: the sociodemographic and obstetric factors significantly influence the presence of premature newborns.
