Objetive: Determine che dimensions of personality and its relationship wich adherence to antirettoviral treatment of HIV patients in che Regional Hospital of Loreto - 2010. Materials and methods: WVe applied to a sample of 99 HIV patients on antiretroviral therapy the Eysenck Personality Inventory Form “B“ and SMAQ adherence questionnaire, which has six questions (4 qualitative and quantitative 2), concerning adherence to antiretroviral treatment in the last week in che last three. The study was cross-sectional non-experimental, descriptive design - correlation. Analysis was used Pearson X2 statistic wich a statistical significance level P < 0.05. It was observed: There is no statistically significant relationship between extroversion personality dimension and non-adherence to antiretroviral treatment ((P = 0.298> P = 0.05) happeningthe same with the introverted personality, and adherence to antiretroviral therapy (P = 0.445> P = 0.05), also with a stable personality and adherence to antiretroviral therapy (P = 0.381> P = 0.05) and unstable personality or neurotic and non-adherence to antiretroviral therapy (P = 0.381> P = 0.05). Conclusion: there is no statistically signifcant relationship between personality dimensions and adherence to antiretroviral treatment in HIV patients at the Regional Hospital of Loreto.
