The objective of this descriptive non-experimental quantitative approach study is to determine the level of emotional intelligence (I.E.) of the teachers of a Special Education Center in the city of Iquitos. The BarOn Emotional Intelligence Inventory was used in a sample of 28 teachers, where 85.7% are female and 42.9% are between 49 and 58 years old. According to gender, it was observed that 75% of male teachers and 54.2% of female teachers have average EI, 25% of both sexes have a low level, and 20.8% of female teachers have a very low level. According to the age ranges, in all of them, between 50% and 100% of teachers have an average level of EI; 33.3% of teachers with a low level are between 49-58 years old, and 30% with a very low level are between 39-48 years old. According to the ranges of service time, in all of them, between 53.8% and 66.7% of teachers, present an average level of EI; 30.8% of teachers with a low level have 23-29 years of service, and 33.3% with a very low level have 16-22 years of service. 63.6% of appointed teachers and 52.9% of hired teachers have an average level of EI; 27.3% of those appointed and 23.5% of those hired have a low level and 23.5% have a very low level. In the Intrapersonal component, 57.1% of teachers have a low level and 21.4% have a very low level. In Interpersonal, 60.7% of teachers have an average level, 10.7% a high level, 7% 1% a very high level, 3.5% a low level and 17.8% a very low level. In Adaptability, 46.4% of teachers have an average level, 35.7% a low level, and 17.8% a very low level. In Stress Management, 46.4% of teachers have an average level and 53.6% a low level. In General Mood, 46.4% of teachers have an Average level and 53.6% a Low level. Related to Emotional Intelligence, we found that 57.1% of teachers have an Average level, 25% a Low level, and 17.8% a Very Low level. Teachers with High and Very High levels were not found.
