The main objective of the research was to diagnose the efficiency of household solid waste collection in Caballo Cocha town, Ramón Castilla district, province of Mariscal Ramón Castilla. The design used was non-experimental, observational type and descriptive, for the selection of the sample, 279 houses were taken from different streets of the district. The instruments used in data collection were: information analysis, direct observation, and surveys, which were based on 17 questions, related to (I) socioeconomic characteristics, (ii) municipal management based on the strengthening of the population's capacities and (iii) the perception of the household solid waste collection service. The results demonstrate that the organic unit in charge in the municipality is structurally organized; the solid waste collection service is efficient with 58% in favor, but there is a lack of environmental education due to poor public awareness strategies. This fact, limits appropriate management of household solid waste, causing clandestine dumps on the edge of the town's main river. For this reason, it is recommended to articulate ideas and strategies for awarenessraising, work plans with competent institutions and organized civil society.
