The main objective of this research was to evaluate the removal of ammonia with immobilized microalgae in water used to transport ornamental fish. The research was of a descriptive analytical type with an experimental methodological design, consisting of two treatments (t1, t2) and a control group (t0). t1 consisted of water contaminated with NH3 plus immobilized microalgae, t2, immobilized microalgae plus ornamental fish, the control group contained fish plus water, where ammonia concentrations and cell growth were evaluated every 24 hours for 14 days, without water replacement. The results obtained were a growth between 4,5𝑥107 , 8,5 𝑥107 Cell/esf., with a removal percentage with values between 76.1 % and 78.59 % for treatments t1 and t2. In conclusion, immobilized microalgae are able to have good growth and remove high concentrations of ammonia when subjected to cell immobilization processes.
