The percentage of stabilized soils for the construction of road works continues to increase, modifying its physical and / or chemical properties to make it capable of meeting the desired support capacity and durability requirements and not eliminating it as inappropriate, which is considered a good solution, from the economic and environmental point of view, also involves a genuine recycling of unusable soils. Clay soils in sub-roads of unpaved roads are serious problems, due to their high plasticity, reduced support capacity and volumetric instability, changing over time as a function of humidity; Therefore, our objective has been to study the effect of lime as a stabilizing material of a subgrade of clay soil in the Peruvian Low Forest where residual soils predominate - saprolitic and lateritic soils. For the evaluation, we worked by applying ASTM 6276 and the Road Manual: Soils, Geology, Geotechnics and Pavements, and Materials Testing Manual E 118 of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications of Peru; adding percentages of 0%, 2%, 4%, 6% and 8% lime, by weight of the clay soil sample extracted from the subgrade layer. The results obtained in this investigation showed variations in the plasticity index; in sample C-1, an initial value of 39.12 was obtained, said value decreased to 22.93 with the addition of lime to 8%; in the C-2 sample, there was an initial value of 26.11 which fell to 17.17 with the addition of lime to 8%. Considerable variation was also obtained in the CBR; in the C-1 sample, achieving a value of 9.35% by adding 8% lime, the CBR with 0% lime being 1.70; in the C-2 sample, achieving a value of 11.20% by adding 8% lime, the CBR with 0% lime being 3.65. Evaluating the results, with the different percentages of lime, for the soil type A-7-6 for both samples C-1 and C-2, we have better results with the addition of 8% lime with which the maximum CBR at 95% maximum dry density, which is 9.35% and 11.20% respectively.
