The objective of the research is to know the influence of the side effects of oral and injectable hormonal contraceptive methods with the abandonment of the method in users attended at the Regional Hospital of Loreto 2019. The study is of an explanatory type, in a retrospective non-experimental design. The sample consisting of 623 medical records of Family Planning users served in the external office of the Regional Hospital of Loreto in 2019, the data were processed using the software spss v-23. The results obtained are: The average age of users is 27.54 years, the most common age is 19 years. Most users are living with 47.2% of their marital status. The use of hormonal contraceptive methods caused effects such as: weight gain (43.8%), dizziness- nausea (28.7%), headache (4.8%), Acne (4.7%) and 3.5% didn't cause them any. The causes of the abandonment of hormonal contraceptive methods in users is 59.2% the couple, 31.5% accessibility and 9.3% said it is economical. The side effects of using oral contraceptive methods 43.8% is weight gain, 4.8% headache and 47.9% others (dizziness, bleeding, acne, mood) and 3.5% experienced no effect. The side effects of the use of injectable contraceptive methods 28.7% is dizziness-nausea, 14.3% mood swings, 4.7% is the presence of acne, and 48.6% others (weight gain, headaches) and 3.5% experienced no effect. The side effects of hormonal contraception methods if they influence the abandonment of the method in users served at the Regional Hospital of Loreto 2019.
