Recycling is a tool that, directed towards a sustainable future, seeks to address the needs of an ever-changing society, as an opportunity to redefine previous models of residential development. Therefore, the following research project proposes to determine recycling strategies in the work of French architects: Anne Lacaton and Jean-Philippe Vassal, winners of the Pritzker Prize 2021 for their critical approach to architecture, thinking about the transformation of pre-existing collective housing, rather than demolition and consequent new construction. Accordingly, the integral renovation of the Unidad Vecinal Zarumilla, one of the first modern housing projects in Cusco, is proposed with the intention of granting a new life cycle by applying recycling actions. This proposal has made it possible to optimize the habitability conditions in the dwellings, improve the vitality of the public space, and, consequently, rescue the value of the architectural complex.
