This work deals with the design of steel structures applied to electrical substations. However, Peru has not yet developed a national standard that covers minimum requirements regarding the design of steel structures in electrical substations. Therefore, this work will expose criteria, general guidelines and methodology for the design of steel structures for gantries and equipment supports, for which national and international standards focused on electrical substations will be used. To meet the objectives, it has been decided to divide the work into three parts. The first part, which covers chapter I and II, describes in a general way the concepts of the elements that make up a substation as well as their function and the importance of the structural elements that make it up. The second part covers chapters III and IV, here the requirements that structural elements must meet are explained in detail, taking as reference the standards for electrical substations, concrete and steel structures such as ACI 318S-14, ANSI / AISC 360-10, ASCE 10, CNE 2011, etc. It also details the design criteria, load combinations (in service and lastΨ and applied loads for modeling using structural analysis software such as PLS TOWER for frames. As a final part the conclusions and recommendations according to the final results of the modeling and design. Regarding the field of application of this work, the design of the gantry structures and equipment supports of the Piura Oeste Substation belonging to the Extension 19 project is being developed, given the growing demand for energy in the northern part of Perú.
