In the present investigation whose objective is to reduce accidents, costs and improvement of the NPV in the Open pit mining, by implementing controls in security management tools. Applying a methodology of type applied with pre-experimental design (before and after), in a sample represented by 214 collaborators applying the survey instrument for the evaluation of security management tools with a reliability Cronbach's Alpha = 0.995; and for the analysis of accidents, costs and the NPV, a documentary review and analysis was carried out, whose variation in the data is 97.83%. It is concluded that: by implementing the controls in the security tools, a reduction in cost accidents and an improvement in the NPV is achieved, this influence is detailed by the connection r=-0.828. Regarding the most outstanding tools, they are: The One to One security tool, with a predictive importance b=2.779; the PETS with b=1.478; work orders b=0.879; training and meetings b=1.021 and standards b=0.590. When implementing the controls in the indicators of said security tools, the decreasing frequency index of IF (before)=1.0169; IF (after)=0.6172; regarding the decreasing severity index from IS (before)=2.9348 to IS (after)=1.5332; with respect to the accident rates IA (before)=0.0045 is reduced to IA (after)=0.0028. Security costs are reduced in terms of incidents and accidents, taking into account the frequency index before 1.0169 and after 0.6172, the costs for dangerous incidents (IP Cost) are reduced from: IP Cost (before) = $ 1 347 to IP Cost (after)= $834; costs for disabling accidents (AI cost), AI costs (before)=$4,123 to AI cost (after)=$2,502; the costs for fatal accidents, costs AF (before)= $54,969 to AF (after)= $33,361. considering a real NPV of $119,366 including costs for dangerous incidents, incapacitating and fatal accidents; there is a GO (before)= $99 211; and after the implementation of controls in security tools a NPV (after) = $107,134.
