The main objective of this research work is to estimate the trip generation rates of a sample of school centers in a sector of northern Lima and to determine a trip generation model based on the independent variables (number of students, number of workers, land surface area and number of active classrooms) in relation to the number of trips generated by the school centers. To meet the stated objectives, surveys were applied on working days of the week, in five high schools, which were selected under certain parameters and conditions according to the Institute of Transportation Engineers. In the surveys, data such as the time of entry, exit and the different modes of transport used by the school population to reach the educational institution and return home were recorded. Starting from the data obtained in the surveys, an expansion coefficient was applied to work with the total population since a sample was surveyed, with these data the average number of trips generated was obtained since the surveys were applied. generation of trips on two days of the week, then the peak hour for both the morning and the afternoon was determined with these data. From the page of the Ministry of Education of Peru - Statistics for Educational Quality (ESCALE) the data of the independent variables was obtained. Once the data of the independent and dependent variables were obtained, the trip generation rates, standard deviation, regression equations, determination coefficient R^2 were estimated. With the data obtained, comparisons were made with the ITE rates and other available data. To determine the trip generation model, a Hypothesis test was carried out for the significance of the coefficients and the coefficient of determination was considered since it would indicate if there is an adjustment in the regression curves, in this way the trip generation models was validated. The results indicated that the most used mode of entry and exit to educational institutions is on foot. On foot p.m. Three trip generation models were found and the highest trip generation rates were found on foot compared to global.
