The Talara basin blocks contain solution gas drive reservoirs, they are mature fields that began production before the 1900s and currently represent more tan 40% of Peru's oil production. The main problem in these fields is the disposal of formation water and associated gas that oil brings. The water used to be collected in tanks, drained to API pools and taken to evaporation pools. However, the Article 50 of Supreme Decree 023-2018 forbids the use of evaporation pools in the open air, so an alternative is required for their final disposal. On the other hand, there are fields where gas is not sold due to the lack of profitability in its monetization projects, so the produced gas must be disposed in an environmentally friendly way, avoiding venting and / or burning. One solution for the disposal of water and gas is to convert active or temporarily abandoned wells (ATA) into disposal wells. However, a process is required to select depleted areas that can store these fluids. Thus, the objective of the project is to propose a technical methodology for the selection of reservoirs, through material balance to determine structural blocks with low-energy formations. In addition to identifying candidate wells located in the better productive trends of the selected sands, located near the production batteries, free of buildings and / or steep slopes; and identify flow units from core data to determine the poral throat of the sands. This work demonstrates the importance of reservoir analysis in the selection of water and gas disposal wells, and shows a practical application at the Block III in the Talara basin.
