The objective of this research work is to describe the fundamental theories based on the variables, understanding social networks. Social networks as digital platforms that are used to develop the teaching-learning process. Social networks allow contact between students and teachers, through which they interact with the aim of developing their skills and abilities. Within the methodology, we have worked with the type of applied research, with a descriptive - correlational design and as a method we worked with the hypothetical-deductive, as a population we worked with 30 students from the 4th year of secondary education, as an instrument we used As a survey technique to measure variable 1 and for the second variable 2, we worked with the evaluation minutes of the first two months of the mathematics area in the students of the 4th year of secondary education, where the following results and conclusions were reached; It is inferred through the Spearman statistic correlation test between the variables social networks and academic performance that a value of 0.478 is found, all with a significance of 0.008, which means that there is a statistically significant link between the research variables. .
