The objective of this research work is mathematical thinking and mathematical skills in students of the III cycle of primary school, I.E. 0025 San Martín de Porres, Ate, 2023, is a study that is quantitatively focused due to its way of measuring and presenting results; Likewise, it is considered to be within applied research studies, because it deals with real events and is based on basic research, the design is non-experimental because there is no manipulation of variables; The relationship between two variables is sought in a sample group of 154 students selected randomly under probabilistic sampling; The instruments to collect information from the sample were the questionnaire designed for each variable, which have validity, by expert judgment, and Cronbach's Alpha reliability (0.729 for mathematical thinking and 0.775 for mathematical competence), being declared reliable. Among the main results we must mention that 42.2% of the students have mathematical thinking in process, 36.4% are in expected achievement, another 12.3% are in outstanding achievement and 9.1% are in the beginning. ; On the other hand, 69.5% of the students have regular mathematical competence, 14.3% excellent, 9.1% insufficient and 7.1% satisfactory. Regarding the hypothesis test, it was found that there is a significant relationship between the mathematical thinking and mathematical competences in students of the III cycle of primary school, I.E. 0025 San Martín de Porres, Ate, 202 (p ˂ 0.05, Spearman's rho = 0.684, with a high positive correlation).
